Warning & Precautions

  • Treatment with Paltusotine 20 mg/30 mg may increase the probability of gallstone formation because it reduces the movement of the gallbladder. Patients may experience nausea, abdominal pain, or inflammation of the gallbladder. Regular monitoring through ultrasound is required, mainly for those with a known history of gallbladder disease.
  • This therapeutic drug can affect the levels of blood sugar by altering insulin and glucose regulation. Some patients may experience high or low blood sugar, particularly those with diabetes. Regular monitoring of blood glucose and adjustment of antidiabetic medicines are important during treatment.
  • Treatment with this oral drug may cause alterations in heart rate or blood pressure in some populations. Patients with underlying heart complications must be monitored for conduction issues, slow heartbeat, or rhythm disturbances. Let your clinician know immediately if signs and symptoms like palpitations or dizziness occur.
  • Because this medicinal product can affect digestive enzymes, some individuals may encounter loose motions, fatty stools, or difficulty digesting fats. This may cause abdominal discomfort or nutrient deficiencies. Dietary adjustments or supplementation may be required depending on medical instructions.
  • Long-term use of this medicine may reduce Vitamin B12 absorption in some populations. This can result in numbness, fatigue, or weakness. Periodic monitoring of Vitamin B12 levels and supplementation, if needed, can prevent deficiencies during extended therapy.
  • Paltusotine 20 mg/30 mg may fluctuate thyroid hormone levels. Patients may develop symptoms like weight changes, fatigue, or sensitivity to cold. Regular thyroid function tests are required, particularly for those with pre-existing thyroid complications or those showing abnormal symptoms.
  • Paltusotine treatment can be used during pregnancy only if clearly required and prescribed by a healthcare provider. Its effects on unborn babies are not completely established. Women who are pregnant or want to become pregnant should discuss all the risks and benefits with their clinician.
  • Paltusotine may pass into human breast milk. Therefore, breastfeeding mothers should use this therapeutic drug cautiously. Healthcare providers may recommend stopping breastfeeding or considering an alternative therapy depending on the clinical circumstances and all the risks to the infant.
