Quviviq (daridorexant) is an orexin receptor antagonist used for the treatment of adults with insomnia, characterized by difficulties with sleep onset and/or sleep maintenance. The safety and efficacy of this therapeutic drug in pediatric patients (< 18 years of age) have not been established.
The recommended dose for adults is one tablet of 50 mg once per night, taken orally in the evening within 30 minutes before going to bed, with at least 7 hours remaining before planned awakening. Some patients may take 25 mg once per night. Dosage can be taken with or without food, however, sleep onset may be delayed in case dosage is taken with or soon after a high-fat and high-calorie meal.
Quviviq tablets should be taken within 30 minutes before going to bed. In case a patient forgets to take their dose, they should not take it later during the night, otherwise, they may experience drowsy in the morning.
