Medical Uses
Alprolix (eftrenonacog alfa) is a recombinant, extended half-life Factor IX replacement therapy from Sanofi (Bioverativ), indicated in adults and children with hemophilia B (congenital Factor IX deficiency) for routine prophylaxis to reduce the frequency of bleeding episodes, for on-demand control of bleeding episodes, and for perioperative (surgical) bleed management.
Alprolix is a recombinant Factor IX molecule genetically fused to the Fc portion of human IgG1, extending its circulating half-life compared with standard Factor IX products and allowing prophylactic dosing as infrequently as once every 7-10 days for many patients.
