EOHILIA (Budesonide Oral Suspension)

EOHILIA, from Takeda, is the first FDA-approved oral therapy for eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), delivered as a viscous, swallowable budesonide suspension. It is indicated for 12 weeks of treatment in adult and pediatric patients 11 years and older with EoE, a chronic immune/allergic condition causing inflammation of the esophagus.

EOHILIA delivers budesonide, a topical corticosteroid, directly to the esophageal lining in a viscous, mucoadherent suspension that clings to esophageal tissue as it is swallowed, reducing local eosinophilic inflammation.

• Local esophageal candidiasis (fungal infection) can occur with topical corticosteroid use.
• Systemic corticosteroid effects are possible with prolonged use, including adrenal suppression.
• Growth in pediatric patients should be monitored with long-term corticosteroid exposure.
• Common side effects: respiratory tract infection, headache, gastrointestinal discomfort, esophageal candidiasis.

What documents are required to import EOHILIA to India?

EOHILIA may be imported in the patient’s name only, by patients or government hospitals. The following documentation is required:

• A valid prescription from a registered gastroenterologist
• Diagnostic/endoscopy report confirming eosinophilic esophagitis
• Patient ID proof (issued by the Government of India)

The order is confirmed only after receipt and verification of a valid prescription and an import permit, if applicable.
