Medical Uses
Kanarb (fimasartan) is a blood pressure tablet approved in South Korea in 2010 for essential hypertension. Its Korean label also allows it to reduce protein in the urine for people who have both high blood pressure and type 2 diabetic kidney disease. Most adults start on 30 or 60 mg once a day, and the dose can go up to 120 mg.
Fimasartan blocks the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, so angiotensin II can no longer narrow the blood vessels or make the body hold on to salt and water. Blood pressure begins to fall within about 2 weeks, and the full effect is seen after 8–12 weeks.
