Lumify (Brimonidine Tartrate)

  • Medicine Name: Lumify
  • Active Ingredient (API): Brimonidine Tartrate
  • Dosage Form & Strength: Ophthalmic solution: 0.025%
  • Manufactured By: Bausch & Lomb (US)

Medical Uses

Lumify (brimonidine tartrate 0.025%) is a US over-the-counter eye drop that relieves redness of the eye caused by minor eye irritations. Adults and children aged 5 and over put 1 drop in the affected eye every 6 to 8 hours, and no more than 4 times a day. For children under 5, a doctor should be asked first.

Brimonidine is an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist. At this low strength it narrows the small surface blood vessels that make the eye look red. It comes as a multi-dose bottle and, since 2024, as preservative-free single-use vials.

Warnings & Precautions

  • Stop using it and see a doctor if you get eye pain, changes in vision, or if the redness or irritation gets worse or lasts more than 3 days.
  • Take contact lenses out before use and wait at least 10 minutes before putting them back. Leave at least 5 minutes between Lumify and any other eye product.
  • Do not use it if the solution changes colour or becomes cloudy. Do not let the tip touch any surface, and put the cap back after each use.
  • Ask a health professional before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If it is swallowed, get medical help straight away.

Documentation & Availability

Can Lumify be sent to India?

Yes. Lumify is an over-the-counter product in the US, and we can source it for you in your name. A note from your eye doctor helps if the eye problem has not been checked yet.

Bottle or preservative-free vials?

There is only one strength (0.025%). The multi-dose bottle comes in 2.5 mL to 7.5 mL sizes and contains the preservative benzalkonium chloride. Lumify Preservative Free comes as a box of 20 single-use 0.4 mL vials; each vial is used once and thrown away. People who wear contact lenses or have sensitive eyes often prefer the vials.

What do we need from you?
  • Which version you want (bottle or preservative-free vials) and how many
  • A note from your eye doctor, if you have one
  • Government-issued photo ID of the person it is for
How should Lumify be stored?

At 15–25 °C. Keep the preservative-free vials in their carton and use a vial only if its pouch is sealed. In Indian summer heat, keep it in a cool place, away from direct sun.

Sourcing & Delivery

Lumify is a small, light item, and we ship it so that it stays below 25 °C as the label asks. IPN sources it from authorised US distributors.
