MRESVIA RSV Vaccine

MRESVIA, from Moderna, is an mRNA vaccine indicated for active immunization for the prevention of lower respiratory tract disease (LRTD) caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in adults 60 years of age and older, and in adults 18 through 59 years of age who are at increased risk of RSV disease.

MRESVIA works by delivering mRNA encoding the RSV prefusion F (preF) glycoprotein, prompting the body’s own cells to produce the antigen and generate a protective immune response against RSV.

• Increased risk of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) has been reported following vaccination with RSV vaccines.
• Appropriate medical treatment must be available to manage possible anaphylactic reactions following administration.
• Common side effects include injection site pain, fatigue, headache, myalgia, and arthralgia.
• As with all vaccines, MRESVIA may not protect all individuals who receive it.
