It is a botulinum toxin type B that works by blocking the release of acetylcholine at nerve endings, causing temporary, localized muscle relaxation and reducing the involuntary muscle contractions of cervical dystonia.

• Boxed warning: the effects of botulinum toxin may spread from the injection site to other areas, causing symptoms of botulism (swallowing/breathing difficulties) — seek immediate medical attention if these occur.
• Should only be administered by physicians experienced in the diagnosis and management of movement disorders.
• Dry mouth, dysphagia, and injection-site pain are commonly reported.
• Not interchangeable with other botulinum toxin products — units differ between products.
