Medical Uses
JUVMO (tavapadon) is a once-daily tablet approved by the US FDA on 25 September 2026 for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease in adults. It was studied both on its own in early Parkinson’s disease and as an add-on for people already taking levodopa who have “off” periods.
Tavapadon is a non-ergot dopamine agonist that acts as a selective partial agonist at the dopamine D1 and D5 receptors. AbbVie describes JUVMO as the first and only selective D1/D5 receptor agonist approved for adults with Parkinson’s disease.
In two 27-week studies without levodopa (TEMPO-1, 529 patients, and TEMPO-2, 304 patients), daily-living scores (MDS-UPDRS Part II) improved with JUVMO but worsened slightly or stayed flat with placebo. In TEMPO-3 (507 patients on levodopa), good “on” time without troublesome dyskinesia rose by 1.7 hours a day with JUVMO versus 0.6 hours with placebo, and “off” time fell by 1.9 hours versus 0.9 hours.
Other Parkinson’s medicines we help patients obtain include CREXONT (extended-release carbidopa/levodopa) and Inbrija (inhaled levodopa).
