Medical Uses
Furmonertinib (brand name Alflutinib in China) is a third-generation, brain-penetrant EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) used for EGFR-mutated advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), including EGFR T790M-mutated disease (approved indication in China) and under active investigation for EGFR exon 20 insertion-positive NSCLC in the US.
Furmonertinib selectively inhibits mutant forms of the EGFR protein (including T790M resistance mutations and exon 20 insertions) that drive tumor growth in certain NSCLC cases, while sparing wild-type EGFR, and has shown good penetration into the central nervous system.
