JASCAYD (Nerandomilast) Tablets

JASCAYD (nerandomilast), from Boehringer Ingelheim, is indicated for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF) in adults — the first new IPF treatment approved in over a decade.

Nerandomilast is an oral phosphodiesterase 4B (PDE4B) inhibitor with antifibrotic and immunomodulatory effects. By selectively inhibiting PDE4B, it reduces the expression of pro-fibrotic growth factors and inflammatory cytokines that are overexpressed in pulmonary fibrosis, aiming to slow disease progression.

• Gastrointestinal effects such as diarrhea are common and may require dose adjustment.
• Weight loss and decreased appetite have been reported; weight should be monitored.
• Liver enzyme elevations have been observed; liver function monitoring is recommended.
• Common side effects: diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, decreased appetite, headache.
