TORISEL Kit (Temsirolimus) Injection

TORISEL (temsirolimus), from Pfizer, is indicated for the treatment of advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC).

Temsirolimus is an mTOR (mechanistic target of rapamycin) inhibitor. By inhibiting mTOR, a key regulator of cell growth, proliferation, and angiogenesis, temsirolimus slows tumor growth and helps limit the tumor’s blood supply in advanced kidney cancer.

• Hypersensitivity/infusion reactions, including anaphylaxis, can occur; premedication with an antihistamine is recommended.
• Hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia are common; monitor blood glucose and lipid levels.
• Increased risk of infections due to immunosuppressive effects.
• Interstitial lung disease has been reported; monitor for respiratory symptoms.
• Impaired wound healing has been observed with mTOR inhibitors.
