Venclexta is a BCL-2 inhibitor used:
- For the treatment of adult patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL), with or without 17p deletion, who have received at least one prior therapy.
- In combination with medication azacitidine or decitabine or low-dose cytarabine to treat newly-diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in adult patients aged 75 years or older, or who have comorbidities that preclude use of intensive induction chemotherapy.
- Patients taking treatment with venclexta 100 mg tablets should be monitored for blood chemistries and manage abnormalities promptly.
- Patients with venetoclax 100 mg / 50 mg /10 mg should be monitored for complete blood counts throughout the treatment period.
- Avoid administering live attenuated vaccines prior to, during, or after treatment with venetoclax 50 mg /10 mg /100 mg until B-cell recovery occurs.
- Mechanism of action and findings suggest that venclexta uses may cause embryo-fetal harm if administered to a pregnant woman.
- Respective nursing women should not breastfeed their child while taking venetoclax 10 mg / 50 mg /100 mg.
