Vivjoa is the first FDA-approved azole antifungal used to reduce the occurrence of vaginal yeast infections that keep coming back (RVVC or recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis) in females with a known history of recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis who are not of reproductive age/potential.
Recommended Dosage: There are a couple of (two) recommended Vivjoa capsule dosage regimens: a Vivjoa-only regimen and a Fluconazole/ Vivjoa regimen. Use one of the following 2 dosage regimens:
Vivjoa-only Dosage Regimen: For the Vivjoa-only dosage regimen:
On Day 1: Vivjoa 600 mg is administered as a single dose, then
On Day 2: Vivjoa 450 mg is administered as a single dose, then
Beginning on Day 14: Vivjoa 150 mg administered once weekly (every seven days) for 11 weeks (Weeks 2 through 12).
Fluconazole/VIVJOA Dosage Regimen: For the Fluconazole/ Vivjoa capsule dosage regimen, prescribe the medicine fluconazole and:
On Day 1, Day 4, and Day 7: Fluconazole 150 mg is administered orally, then
On Days 14 through 20: Vivjoa 150 mg is administered once daily for seven days, then
Beginning on Day 28: Vivjoa 150 mg administered once weekly (every 7 days) for 11 weeks (Weeks 4 through 14).
Administer Vivjoa by mouth (orally) with food. Swallow the capsules whole without chewing, crushing, dissolving, or opening the capsules.
